Madonna Has Purchased a New Bored Ape NFT for $560,000 in the Metaverse. The “queen of pop” is the newest member of the BAYC. The 63-year-old music star announced her entry into the Metaverse in a Twitter post after purchasing a Bored Ape NFT worth more than half a million dollars. Madonna purchased Bored Ape #4988, a six-trait DMT primate with an S&M hat and a sleeveless branded tee.

The newest transaction was carried out by MoonPay, a cryptocurrency custodian and payment processor that acts as a “concierge” service for celebrities interested in purchasing NFTs.

MoonPay Concierge, a new service for high-net-worth clients wanting to purchase crypto and high-value NFTs, was previously established. Some of its well-known clientele include Snoop Dogg, Gunna, Meek Mill, Lil Baby, Gwyneth Paltrow, Diplo, and Kevin Hart.

MoonPay purchased 180 ETH (about $564k) ten days ago, according to the latest statistics on the NFT marketplace OpenSea, and then transferred it to the singer’s wallet on 23 March 2022.

Despite the fact that high-profile artists are increasingly turning to NFTs, many fans on Madonna’s Instagram post were dissatisfied. Some criticised the singer’s decision, while others demanded that she remove the post. Another user expressed his dissatisfaction, saying,

“Madonna. I’ve always looked up to you, but this is very disappointing.”

The music queen first became involved with bitcoin in 2018, when she teamed up with Brad Garlinghouse’s blockchain business Ripple to collect money for orphans in Miami.

BAYC metaverse is the new bandwagon for celebrities to hop on

As of recently, an increasing number of celebrities have joined the NFT bandwagon, with BAYC being a top destination. Post Malone spent over $700,000 on Bored Apes Nos. 9039 and 961 in November.

BAYC collectors include Marshmello, Steve Aoki, The Chainsmokers, Lil Baby, Timbaland, and many others. Timba has also launched Ape-In Productions, a BAYC metaverse entertainment company that will deploy Bored Apes to play music and sell NFTs. Snoop Dogg, an NFT supporter, purchased his former label, Death Row Records, in February and announced soon after that it would become an NFT label.
