A Gravesend groomers and tattoo parlour is taking the beauty industry into the future, thanks to their forward thinking use of technology. DPZ Parlour has been generating a fair amount of buzz in the local community, helped largely by its acceptance of cryptocurrencies and unique Metaverse experiences available to clients.

The modern shop offers all things hair, beauty and tattoos with this futuristic twist. It was launched by a young entrepreneur and musician who goes by the name of Drowze, to provide high quality services worthy of the stars, at affordable prices.

DPZ has worked with a number of celebrities and influencers since opening, and offers a range of services including tattoos, haircuts, massages and teeth whitening. But when they’re not inking famous people, the artists at the parlour are making great strides to give back to the local community.

Drowze told KentLive the store also started offering underprivileged students free haircuts after staff witnessed the hardships caused by the cost-of-living crisis. So what’s the story behind the popular futuristic parlour to the stars? KentLive went down to find out.

‘Our goal is to be pioneers in the beauty industry’

Drowze said: “It’s just being able to offer a variety of different things that Gravesend has never had. Our goal is to be pioneers in the beauty industry and to change the level of customer service, within the beauty industry and within our community.

“We started accepting crypto straight away. Crypto payments are made via wallet to wallet, like bank details, the client will transfer payments to the selected crypto wallet. Our celebrity clients most pay with crypto and the clients that are heavily into crypto also.”

So which famous faces have stopped by? Drowze said: “We recently did a tattoo for Seun Kuti, his dad is Fela Kuti, the originator of Afrobeats. When he came down, people were stopping him in the street, he’s definitely a legend.”

“We are a Metaverse tattoo studio”

In order to stay unique, the tattoo parlour has introduced the Metaverse experience, which has had lots of interest. The virtual reality game, created by Facebook’s mother company Meta, allows people to interact with others in a fictional world.

Drowse said: “We have the latest device that enables people to enter the Metaverse and it’s extremely realistic. So when people sit down, during their treatment, we give them the opportunity to enter the Metaverse and do whatever they want in there. For Halloween, we’re going to give people the opportunity to experience Halloween in the Metaverse whilst receiving the treatment.”

‘We try our hardest to give back’

But their focus is much more than just celebrities. Drowze said: “We are offering free services to people that are struggling in this current economic crisis.

“We are working with schools and families to try and offer help, like free haircuts, which are helping a little bit with the strain. Where we are very popular, when students do come in for haircuts and stuff like that, you see some of them don’t get their haircut which is pretty sad and that’s just because their parents haven’t given them money to cut their hair.

“We try our hardest to give back and we’re currently working with some schools to do a school run. We want to go round to give free haircuts and whatever mobile services we can to try and help families through the current crisis.”
