Ben McKenzie Calls Out Celebs Who Are Encouraging Fans to Join NFT Craze

Ben McKenzie is calling out celebrities who are encouraging their fans to join the NFT craze and to invest in cryptocurrency.

For those that don’t know, NFT stands for “non-fungible token,” and it allows buyers to purchase ownership of a digital good – usually an image, animation, song or video, in the form of a unique digital token living on a blockchain.

NFTs have grown in popularity over the last year and stars who have been promoting them on social media include Reese Witherspoon, Paris Hilton, Gwyneth Paltrow, Brie Larson, and America Ferrera.

Ben took to Twitter on Friday (February 4) to share a Washington Post article about celebs who have “gone crypto.”

“I’m just a former teen idol standing here (alone?) asking people to consider downside risk and the possibility of fraud. I hope I’m wrong, but pretty sure we’ll find out soon enough. Good luck folks – don’t take financial advice from celebs, including me,” Ben said.

This isn’t the first time that Ben has spoken out against cryptocurrency and he’s currently writing a book about the subject.

Another major celeb also spoke out against NFTs this week.
