• All but two F1 teams now have deals in the cryptocurrency space
  • Alpine agreement covers racing and esports teams

Formula One team Alpine and cryptocurrency exchange firm Binance have announced a new partnership ahead of the 2022 season.

As part of the deal, Alpine will join Binance’s platform and release non-fungible tokens (NFTs) for fans to purchase.

Binance will also become the official fan token partner of Alpine’s Formula One and esports teams, securing branding inventory on the A522 car during the 2022 season.

This partnership means that all but two Formula One teams have partnered with a cryptocurrency firm during the last year. Mercedes is partnered with FTX, Red Bull Racing and McLaren Racing with Tezos, Ferrari with Velas, AlphaTauri with Fantom and Alfa Romeo with Socios. Aston Martin has agreed two deals in the sector, one with Crypto.com and another with Socios.

More broadly, the Formula One series itself agreed a deal with Crypto.com in 2021 to sponsor the inaugural sprint events throughout the season.

“BWT Alpine Formula One Team is not one to shy away from challenges, nor are we afraid to continually push the limit both on and off the track,” said Laurent Rossi, chief executive at Alpine.

“Partnering with Binance fuels our passion to change the racing landscape as well as open doors for more innovative fan engagement. This journey starts with the Alpine token launch and the unveiling of a special collection of NFTs.

“These upcoming, limited edition NFTs will highlight Alpine’s commitment in striving for elegance, ingenuity and audacity. We aim to be forerunners in this new digital space and we believe Binance is the right partner to take us all the way to the checkered flag.”

Elsewhere, Ferrari have announced an extension of their partnership with ManPower Group for the 2022 season, in a deal that sees the recruitment firm receive branding on the F1-75 car.
